About

What is the Punk Rock Flea Market?
Born in September 2006 in a burnt-out Belltown basement as a fundraiser for the Low Income Housing Institute, Seattle's Punk Rock Flea Market has grown into a living, breathing organism with ideas of its own.
Several times a year, hundreds of vendors from around the region descend on our subterranean strip mall with an astonishing assortment of treasures, curiosities, oddities, and questionable necessities. Vintage clothing, handmade art, records, comic books, bike parts, jewelry, stereo equipment, painted rocks, graffiti supplies, strange inventions, dubious antiques, and untold riches of punk rock paraphernalia. If somebody made it, found it, fixed it, rescued it from a dumpster, or dug it out of their grandmother's attic, there's a good chance you'll find it here.
Imagine a police auction, a neighborhood swap meet, and Andy Warhol's garage sale all happening at the same time. That's approximately the idea.
When does it happen?
The PRFM has always been nomadic, moving around Seattle and environs as circumstances dictate. Since 2024, we've made our home at the Quality Flea Center, a former grocery store in the heart of Capitol Hill. We throw several markets a year, generally in spring, fall, and winter.
Dates, hours, and other details can be found on our UPCOMING EVENTS page.
And while we're happy in our current digs, we're always interested in large, inexpensive, unusual spaces that might make a good home for the PRFM. Got a lead? Don't be shy about sharing it.
How does it happen?
Our core team works year-round managing the venue, wrangling vendors, balancing the books, spreading the word, and keeping the whole operation from flying apart. We get paid a little for our efforts, but nobody's getting rich, and nobody's doing this full-time. Even when it feels like we are.
Over the years, we've relied on an army of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, designers, tech wizards, tax experts, gifted amateurs, and assorted mad geniuses who contribute their skills, swap their labor for vendor space, or just show up and get their hands dirty.
And then there are the hundreds of artists, makers, collectors, and oddballs who turn each PRFM into something far greater than the sum of its parts.
It's a ridiculous amount of work. And after 20 years, we still think it's worth it.
How do I become a vendor?
It's pretty simple. Before each market, we open applications to artists, makers, collectors, vintage dealers, junk peddlers, and anyone else with interesting stuff to sell.
We try to make room for a healthy mix of longtime PRFM regulars, fresh faces, and folks who help make the whole thing happen. We're committed to keeping the market accessible, affordable, and unpredictable, but we usually have more applicants than available space, so some tough choices are inevitable.
Want to improve your chances? Get involved! Come to a work party, lend us your skills, get your hands dirty, and help build the market. We're big believers in people who show up and pitch in, and we offer vendor space in exchange for useful labor.
We have a few reasonable rules about what you can sell, and we're especially interested in handmade, secondhand, unusual, and independently produced goods. Mass-produced junk, drop-shipped merchandise, and AI-generated art aren't really our thing.
Read our VENDOR GUIDELINES, check out the VENDOR PAGE for application details, or visit VOLUNTEERS to find out how to trade your time and talents for booth space.
Can I bring my kids?
Hell yes! The Punk Rock Flea Market is always all ages. Bring your kids, bring your grandma, bring the whole damn family. Weirdness knows no age limit.
Does it cost to get in?
What if I’m not Punk Rock?
For us, punk has never been about the clothes you wear or the music you listen to. It's about thinking for yourself, rolling up your sleeves, taking chances, and doing things your own damn way.
We are a loose and unruly bunch of artists, activists, misfits, anarchists and oddballs of every color, gender, race and class. If you're curious, open-minded, and willing to hang out with our family of freaks, you're punk enough for us.Racists, homophobes, bigots, and intolerant assholes, on the other hand, can stay home.
What’s the deal with LIHI?
The Punk Rock Flea Market started as a fundraiser for the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI), a Seattle-based nonprofit that provides housing and support for people experiencing homelessness and poverty.
These days we're an independent operation, but our relationship with LIHI remains an important part of who we are. They serve as our fiscal sponsor, and we make a financial contribution to their work after every market.
We've always believed that a bunch of good hearted people selling weird stuff that they're passionate about can make the world a better place. You can't change our minds.
